Case by Dr. Alan Pressman
A patient urgently called seeking immediate repair for their smile before an upcoming wedding. The issue at hand was a fractured Porcelain Veneer laminate that I had installed 20 years ago, utilizing products from two different manufacturers. In this instance, I turned to the Ecosite Elements from DMG and the Bisco Intraoral Repair Kit.
To enhance the blending of the repair, I began by beveling the porcelain slightly with a diamond and roughening up the tooth. Following the prescribed instructions, I carefully applied porcelain etch on the porcelain and 37% Phosphoric Acid on the tooth. The Isolite system was employed for isolation.
Subsequently, I used porcelain primer and porcelain bonding agent as per the Bisco kit instructions. Ecosite Elements – Shade Pure (B1) and the Ecosite Elements Layer – Shade (EB) Enamel Bleach were placed, resulting in a perfect match. After shaping and polishing, the Highlight portion of the kit was deemed unnecessary.
The patient left for the wedding with a restored and confident smile!
