One of the challenges faced by clinicians is having the best materials available when and where you need them to best treat your patients ‘oral health care needs and meet both yours and your patients’ expectations with confidence. For the clinician; it is having quality products that are trusted, save time, are easy to use and give the ability to deliver quality care and exceptional service. For the patient; it is getting the treatment needed, while meeting their expectations for esthetics, reliability, time restraints and costs.
Treatment of indirect restorations have a wide variety of clinical procedures and material options. Not only with the final restoration but also in the incremental treatment leading up to a final restoration. Currently, our options for these incremental steps is accomplished through provisional restorations. All provisionals need to accomplish an impressive list of goals. From covering the tooth and sealing the dentin, to maintaining interproximal contacts and occlusion as well as restoring the patient’s esthetics and function. Provisionals can also be the best source of patient satisfaction and referrals in my office. When a provisional impresses the patient, their friends, family and your specialists because it looks, feels and functions like the final product it is a game changer.
The majority of our provisionals need to act as an interim restoration for a handful of weeks and for this The Luxatemp family of provisional material by DMG, offers the perfect solution for both clinician and patient demands. But what happens when you need an option that can stay durable and beautiful for months? Or withstand extreme demands like that of a long-span bridge, or the ability to phase treatment or to meet your patients’ economical demands?
In the past the material options for these cases have been limited, requiring even more steps by having to go to the laboratory for options. By not having material choices available when and where we need them, both the clinician and patient expectations are compromised.
DMG is now offering a chairside solution with a new material called LuxaCrown.
LuxaCrown is a high-strength long-term material designed especially for these indications. LuxaCrown is in the same family of materials by DMG America; Luxatemp, Luxatemp Plus, and Luxatemp Ultra, however it is not to be confused as “a better version,” but truly a classification within its own that should be added to your material choices. LuxaCrown invitro studies indicate long-lasting wear, and it’s enhanced flexural strength allows for low fracture rates, meaning fewer repairs and remakes. The lifelike fluorescence allows you to provide optimal natural esthetics that your patients will be awed by; giving you the options you need when you need it!
LuxaCrown has become my go-to material for clinical situations where I need greater strength and durability. It allows the confidence needed in a material option.
Having both Luxatemp Ultra and LuxaCrown in my office allows me to get the exceptional results I am after no matter what the indications presents.
Both materials are designed for easy handling for options to fabricate either an interim provisional restoration or a long-term restoration chair-side, that possess phenomenal fit and beauty.
