LuxaCore Z Dual
Which adhesive or bonding agent is recommended for LuxaCore Z?
LuxaBond-Total Etch is suitable for all treatments using LuxaCore Z Dual. LuxaBond-Total Etch is recommended as the perfect complement to LuxaCore Z and the LuxaPost for use in the root canal, to achieve the best possible adhesion values. Moreover, LuxaBond-Total Etch can generally be used with LuxaCore Z Dual for core build-up. All resin-based agents will with LuxaCore Z Dual, with varying degrees of bond strength. The strongest bond strengths we have seen are with 4th and 6th generation bonding agents.
Can I also use LuxaBond TE for other cementations?
LuxaBond-Total Etch is a dual-curing bonding agent for use in conjunction with the total etch technique and a composite for core build-ups, for post cementation and for the cementation of crowns/bridges, inlays and onlays.
Which other adhesives are not recommended for core build-ups?
LuxaCore Z Dual should not be used with single-bottle adhesives as their chemistry does not provide sufficient adhesive force.
What does dual-cure mean?
The material can set in two ways: 1. Light curing using a dental curing light, 2. Self curing or chemical curing, which begins automatically after mixing, regardless of whether or not the material is light-cured.
What are the benefits of dual curing?
Shorter setting time than in the case of self-curing (20 seconds vs. 5 minutes), with the added assurance that the material will set all the way through even if the layering technique is not used.
Do I need to light cure in layers?
No. It is dual cure.
Why should I even use a composite for core build-up that requires adhesive technology and a dry environment, rather than a simple glass ionomer cement?
LuxaCore Z Dual is a composite that has been specially developed for core build-up. Its mechanical properties are far superior to those of a glass ionomer cement and adhesion is better and more reliable.
Can LuxaCore Z be used as a post cement?
Yes. The low viscosity and dual-cure make it ideal as a post cement. Usage is described in the instructions for use.
How many applications are possible with one cartridge?
One LuxaCore Z Dual cartridge is sufficient for around 25-30 applications.
How many applications are possible with one Smartmix-syringe?
One Smartmix-syringe is sufficient for around 13-15 applications.
Do you not end up discarding a lot of material in the mixing tips each time?
Material that has set in the mixing tips can no longer be used, that’s true. However, there is also some waste on the mixing pad when mixing by hand. If the material is then filled into an application syringe, this leads to further waste of material. In addition, it may also become apparent during application that too much material or not enough material has been mixed. This cannot happen with our Automix system. If all of this is taken into consideration, wastage within the mixing tips is certainly less than that of Handmix products. But what is much more important: Direct application always saves time and effort. In fact, we are working on this issue on an ongoing basis. One step in this direction is the development of the Smartmix system, which has significantly smaller mixing tips.
Is it possible to separately re-order the new Endo-Tips for insertion into the root canal?
Yes, the Tips are available both for the 25 ml cartridge as well as for the Smartmix system.
Can I use the Mixing Tips for other products as well?
Yes, the Automix-Tips and Intraoral-Tips are the same as for Honigum-Automix Light.
Can I also do core build-ups with PermaCem 2.0 as an alternative?
PermaCem 2.0 is not suitable for core build-up. PermaCem 2.0 is a self-etching luting cement that does not have the characteristics required for core build-up. LuxaCore Z Dual was specially developed for core build-up. Its mechanical properties are far superior to those of PermaCem 2.0 and adhesion is better and more reliable.
Is LuxaCore Z Dual radiopaque on an X-Ray?
Yes.
Do you have any shade recommendations for a core buildup with LuxaCore Z Dual?
The blue shade is good for porcelain fused to metal, providing that the doctor likes to view where the core material ends and the tooth structure begins. A3 and Light Opaque are esthetic shades that are ideal for building a core under a crown that does not have a metal sub-structure.
Does LuxaCore Z Dual stay in place?
Yes. It does not slump. It is thixotropic which means it will stay in place until the doctor initiates movement with an instrument.
Will LuxaCore Z Dual bond to Luxatemp?
Yes. They are both composites. A separating material like Vaseline is recommended to cover the LuxaCore Z Dual tooth prep, when placing Luxatemp during the first setting stage.
Does LuxaCore Z Dual contain fluoride?
Yes.
What type of automix dispenser or gun do I use for LuxaCore Z Dual automix?
A Type 24 – 1:1 or 2:1 gun.
LuxaPost
Do the colors for the color coding of the post sizes (green, purple, black) correspond to the colors for the DIN standards?
No. The sizes in the DIN standard relate to the root filling with gutta-percha.
Does LuxaPost need to be pre-treated with a silane?
No, LuxaPost is already pre-silanized.
What happens if I touch the pre-treated post?
This film must be removed again with alcohol.
Why do you pre-treat the LuxaPost with a silane?
It will ensure the chemical bond of the post with the composite.
Are the glass fibers in LuxaPost sensitive to moisture or saliva?
No. They are protected by a resin matrix.
Is LuxaPost translucent?
It is translucent throughout the entire length of the post (16mm).
Are the glass fibers in LuxaPost sensitive to moisture or saliva?
No. They are protected by a resin matrix.
